The Central Okanagan Naturalists’ Club (CONC) based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, is a group dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of nature in the Central Okanagan Valley.

It has active groups interested in birding, botany, conservation, education, hiking in the summer (easy, moderate, and more challenging), and skiing in the winter (cross-country and downhill) in the winter. CONC holds monthly meetings with informative and interesting speakers. Many members participate on local, regional, and provincial bodies whose interests reflect ours.

Eco Art Incubator

The Eco-Art Incubator is a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded research initiative at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Principal Investigators are Nancy Holmes, Associate Professor, Creative Writing, and Denise Kenney, Assistant Professor, Interdisciplinary Performance, in the Department of Creative Studies. The Incubator is an umbrella under which a variety of projects can proceed by our offering specific technical and theoretical support, providing a platform for students and artists to work as well as access to artist-friendly resources for conservation and ecological initiatives.

KLO Green Committee

The KLO Green Committee is a community group that meet twice a month to make KLO Middle School a more environmentally friendly school. The committee is currently working on restoring Fascieux Creek that runs on the school property. Our main goal this year will be to restore the creek, planting native trees and plants, to build an outdoor classroom and to add benches and picnic tables along the creek. UBC Internal Research Grant Program

Faculty members at UBC’s Okanagan campus are eligible to apply for the Internal Okanagan campus Research Grants available through the Office of Research Services. Recipients are selected by the Internal Grants Committee. There are seven internal grants, developed to assist faculty and students seeking opportunities to develop their research. This seed funding is expected to result in preparing applications for external funding, or for attending conferences, producing manuscripts, journals or productions from research findings.
